Special Olympics is a global movement that unleashes the human spirit through the transformative power and joy of sport, every day around the world. Through programming in sports, health, education and community building, Special Olympics is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities solving the global injustice, isolation, intolerance, and inactivity they face.

From March 14-21, 2019, over 7,000 Special Olympics athletes representing over 170 countries from around the world will participate in the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.

The Middle East North Africa (MENA) Special Olympics Regional Games will take place from 14-23 March 2018 in Abu Dhabi, with events being held at the same venues and facilities that will be used during the 2019 World Games.

The Regional Games are not only a signature event for the MENA Region but also a major Test Event for the 2019 World Games. With more than 1,200 athletes from 33 countries competing in 16 different sports, the Regional Games will provide more excitement, spectacle, and inspiration than most sporting events.

The Badminton competitions under the Special Olympics MENA Regional Games 2018 and the World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 are conducted under the auspices of UAE Badminton.
